We did it! The Capital Campaign for Healing Wave Aquatics

THE HEALING WAVE AQUATICS CAPITAL CAMPAIGN-FINAL WAVE

We are so thankful for the generous individuals and foundations who have helped us achieve our $1.2M goal in just over 18 months! It is truly a triumph for our organization and those we serve.

Our original $1M Campaign was set to cover $850K in construction costs and $150K in start-up operations. With unanticipated increases in construction costs, materials, and COVID-19 supply chain delays, the total cost of the project increased to $987,000.

We then asked for your help to reach our new goal of $1.2M, which helped us open our doors to the community. The new goal helped with start-up costs including expanding our capacity to double the number of aquatic therapy sessions for veterans.

What our Final Wave funded:

• Increased number of sessions for veteran clients to participate
• Efficient facility operations to manage the flow of clients and maintenance
• More availability of hours for our aquatic practitioners
• New program equipment and items to increase client comfort
• Opportunities to work with healthcare partners to demonstrate the effectiveness of aquatic therapy

Our organization is grateful for everyone that has been on this journey with us. You’ve been with us when the facility was a dream, and in the past year of getting the construction started, your support helped us open our doors.

We look forward to a soft opening in June and our official grand opening celebration around Veterans Day this fall!

THE HEALING WAVE AQUATICS FACILITY

Our new facility is a 3,150 sq. ft. building that is located in Mount Soledad Business Park at 2657 Ariane Dr. San Diego, CA 92117. The location of our facility is in a prime location to serve clients and the community. The geographical proximity from the I-5 and 52 freeways makes the facility easily accessible with many alternate routes to reach or exit the location from north, south, and east. For our clients who come from VVSD and The Aspire Center, we can be reached along the new trolley line between Old Town and VA Healthcare.

So far the project has gone through permitting processes, demolition, asbestos removal, framing, piping, electrical, trenching, ducting, and more. The pools have gone through excavation, plumbing, and tiling and are nearing completion.

Our facility has gone from completely gutted to looking like a functioning building! We are in the final quarter of construction and are excited to see it all coming together.
